Information Gathering
Vessel fixture reports are reviewed on a regular basis, received from the six Panel brokers. Fixtures include spot market and time charters. Fixtures reported in WS or Lumpsum or $MT or dollars per day can all be used.
Bunker price information is updated by Clearlynx each month.
Exchange rates used for assessing port costs are updated each month, using monthly average values.
Review by Vessel
The AFRA database stores fixture information by vessel. All the vessels in the fleet are then reviewed by the LTBP staff and representatives from the Panel members, in order to select AFRA information for the period.
Summary Review
Once the review by vessel is complete a picture of the global freight levels begins to form. This summary is then checked and agreed by the members prior to distribution.
