Metric AFRA
The traditional AFRA deadweight groups continue to be used as many long standing supply contracts refer to these catagories.
In addition to this, in order to modernise the deadweight groups, the London Tanker Brokers’ Panel has introduced “Metric AFRA”.
Metric AFRA results are expressed in Worldscale points and cover six deadweight groups.
1. Metric Handy
2. Metric Medium Range
3. Metric Large Range 1
4. Metric Large Range 2
5. Metric Suezmax
6. Metric VLCC
25,000-41,999 metric tonnes
42,000-59,999 metric tonnes
60,000-79,999 metric tonnes
80,000-124,999 metric tonnes
125,000-184,999 metric tonnes
185,000-325,000 metric tonnes
Metric Clean is also available in four deadweight groups
1. Metric Handy
2. Metric Medium Range
3. Metric Large Range 1
4. Metric Large Range 2
25,000-41,999
42,000-59,999 metric tonnes
60,000-79,999 metric tonnes
80,000-124,999 metric tonnes
Contracting parties wishing to use Metric AFRA and Metric Clean should take care in ensuring that all parties are aware of the differences between this and traditional long ton AFRA.
Retrospective reports are available back to 2018.
